My youngest has pretty severe ADHD. It’s that kind that’s really obvious and people make comments about it. In trying to help him, we’ve been in many therapies and worked with many providers trying to get the right balance of help for him. To be honest, we’re still figure it out.
As a result, I’ve read a lot of books about ADHD. I’ve had the opportunity to read ARC copies for 4 upcoming releases I’m really excited about. I’m going to write about them here in case they can help anyone else.
128 Questions about ADHD by Katherine P. Snedaker – Available July 28th, 2026

I think ADHD is really widely misunderstood. This book is really helpful because it covers so many different aspects of ADHD that you may not realize your child (or yourself) suffers from or is related to their diagnosis. It has a group of adults that answers the questions so you can see the similarities in their experiences. Some questions, like “Did your parings…drink too much or suffer from mental disorders?” had mixed feedback from the people interviewed. But other questions, it was really easy to see how ADHD impacted all of the interviewees’ lives.
ADHD World by John S. Kruse – Available October 29th, 2026

This book is definitely written for adults who have ADHD versus parents of children with ADHD. However, it really has a lot of tips to help reduce ADHD symptoms on your own or with professional help. I like its focus on co-occurring disorders, since ADHD doesn’t always exist independently. This is a cool book to have in my resources for helping creating a homeschool environment where my son can thrive.
Embracing Your ADHD Brain by Danielle Sullivan – Available September 15th, 2026

One of the things I think this book does really well is to make you feel like you’re not alone with by having ADHD. It starts with the fact that millions of people have ADHD. It’s overall a very positive and actionable book about ADHD. It talks about the labels and recognizing your strengths as someone with ADHD. I love the lists of positive adjectives, which can help to reframe what can be seen as negative as something that’s more positive.
Inside ADHD by Carole Shilliday – Available September 24th, 2026

This book is helpful in that it discusses the myths around ADHD, how to combat negative self-talk, and how to live your best life with an ADHD diagnosis. It centers around the concept of Internal Family Systems (IFS) as an approach to managing and healing from ADHD. While I disagree with the author that you can be healed or re-wired as someone with ADHD, I do think the strategies that have been shared can be very applicable.
