I had the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Marvel Fantastic Fables: Aesop’s Tales Heroically Reimagined by Robb Pearlman. It’s officially available on June 23rd, 2026.

Overall I think this is a really fantastic way to teach boys about the values of Aesop’s fables in a way that’s more engaging for them. I have two types of readers in my house. Boys that are enthusiastic and advanced readers, and one reluctant reader who’s really into Spiderman and superheroes. This was a great choice for my more reluctant reader who may not otherwise be invested in the stories I read them.
I liked that the stories were about Marvel characters so they were immediately invested in the story. I also liked that they used lesser used characters like Loki and Hawkeye. I feel like most of the stuff that is out there is mostly about the most popular characters. There’s a short moral bolded at the bottom of each story that is helpful.
I do wish there were references to which stories were being retold. I’d like my kids to have an easy way to access that information.
